The Washington-based group Blood Brothers have certainly outdone themselves again! With their fourth album, Crimes, they have truly struck gold. Many fans didn't think this discordant, punk-rock band could top their 2002 smash hit album Burn, Piano Island, Burn, but they most certainly have. Though this album takes a softer tone with the majority of its songs, it doesn't leave the screamsinging, organ-banging, chaotic musical experience that is the Blood Brothers behind. This album is definitely the greatest new release of the year. An A-album from an Aband, it doesn't get much better than this.
I highly recommend this album to those of you already interested in bands like Q and not U, TV on the Radio, and These Arms are Snakes. For more information on the Blood Brothers or how to order their merchandise, check out www.thebloodbrothers. com.
The Faint's, Wet From Birth can be summed up as a dance party in a plastic case. Wet from Birth is creating quite the stir among '80s synth-rock music fans. This latest and greatest album from The Faint offers a much more delightful and hip-shakin' time than their last album, Dance Macabre.
The latest single off Wet from Birth, entitled "I Disappear" has a steamy music video that is getting decent airtime on MTV2 and proves to potential Faint fans that they are worth the time and money. This album is definitely the thing to get the party started. If you are a fellow Faint fan and were slightly disappointed with Dance Macabre and are looking for something a little more like their first album, Blank Wave Arcade, then Wet from Birth is it. If you haven't yet heard of The Faint but have heard of bands such as Le Tigre, The Killers, The Rapture and Franz Ferdinand, this album is for you. Wilco is one of the only bands that never stops, and never gets old. Since their album, A.M., Wilco has been a musical sensation - truly talented and unforgettable. Their latest album, A Ghost is Born, doesn't fall short on any front. The most amazing thing about this album is that it seems to take a cue from each of Wilco's albums from the upbeat- Western style they once had to the low-key, melodic mood music we all have come to appreciate from Wilco.
