It has been over a month since the tsunami disaster in Asia, and, as is the media tendency with any major event, news coverage has dwindled, but the devastation there is not over. According to the U.S. Geological Survey site, 220,272 people were killed by this display of nature?s wrath, and an additional 22,352 are still listed as missing.
Rent at the West Chester Commons will increase from $10 to $30 for the 2005-06 year. The most recent increase was a downgrade from the initial increase notice that tenants received last fall. The once $20 to $100 increase was cut significantly. Tenants of one-bedroom apartments will experience the greatest increase of 4.
After being closed for a semester, Ramsey Hall will be reopening in the fall of 2005, with about $1 million spent to bring the building up to code. Students will be allowed to sign up to live in Ramsey Hall for Room Rampage, taking place in March. Last year during Room Rampage, living in Ramsey for the 2004-05 school year was not an option for students.
Despite a CD given out to students early in the semester containing anti-virus software, there are still computer networking problems for resident students because not everyone that is connected to the campus network has taken the appropriate steps to clean their machines and install the proper anti-virus software on their computers.
