William Park McCann, who was a suspect in a robbery that occurred at M&T Bank on Paoli Pike in East Goshen Township on Oct. 25, was arrested after attempting to hide from the police.

McCann, 28, a resident of Media, Pa., was arrested at a Best Western hotel in Lancaster County after his vehicle was seen in the parking lot by a local police officer.

It was reported that the SWAT team from the Pennsylvania State Police was to arrive at the scene, but McCann had already been arrested in the hotel's lobby.

A bank teller called 911 immediately on the day of the robbery.

"The Chester County Department of Emergency Services dispatched police for a robbery that just occurred," Sergeant Bill Cahill of the Westtown Police Department said.

The robber did not have an accomplice and there were no injuries at the scene.

"The individual displayed a metal object to simulate a firearm," Cahill said. "We recovered what appears to be a pepper spray canister and an air soft pistol."

In addition to being a suspect in the bank robbery, McCann also has several forgery cases pending in Chester County, Media District Court in Delaware County and King of Prussia Court in Montgomery County. He is also wanted in the state of Nevada for a probation violation.

McCann was also the suspect of a robbery that occurred at Wal-Mart in the Main Street at Exton complex several days prior to the M&T Bank occurrence. McCann robbed a female victim of her purse at gunpoint.

It was reported that McCann then fled the scene in an unknown direction. It was also later recovered that the description of the vehicle that fled the scene at Wal-Mart matched the description of the vehicle that fled from the bank.

McCann was only wanted for questioning after the incident, but was formally charged the morning of Oct. 26.

McCann is currently listed on $130,000 cash bail.
