Are elevators bathrooms now?

Coming to college made me realize how incredibly disgusting some people can be. It took many students, including girls, quite a while to realize that there is a difference between a toilet/urinal and a floor. It also took them a while to realize that garbage cans are there for a reason.
However, some people have gotten bored of this new cleanliness. These people have decided that elevators are the new bathrooms.
Over the last few weeks, I, as have many other people, almost stepped into an elevator where the floor was covered in pee. Sometimes there wasn't any urine, but the smell still remained.
This is something that I just cannot get. Why in the world would someone find the need to use an elevator to relieve themselves? It isn't very funny. It smells really bad. And it is very inconvenient.
People on the higher floors of the dorm do not want to use the stairs every time the elevator is out of service. And the cleaning staff have better things to do than to clean up after some stupid kid(s) who think that peeing in the elevator is funny, cool, or whatever they think it is.
The resident director has finally had enough. There are now flyers posted telling these people that they will get caught and that they will pay for their actions.
If that isn't enough to stop them, hopefully they too are tired of taking the stairs or of the disgusting smell of urine in the elevators that they will finally learn to use the bathrooms. They happen to be there for a reason.
