There wasn't a dull moment in this week's volleyball action.

The team tied the all time record for wins in a season with 28, clinched the third playoff spot in the PSAC East, and won all four of their matches, only losing one game out of 13. Jacqueline Vivanco broke the school's all time record for digs in a single season.

The week started off Tuesday night as the girls took on last place Cheyney. Three games were all that were needed as the Lady Rams swept the winless Cheyney squad three games to none.

With the win, WCU inched closer to the postseason. Since Millersville defeated East Stroudsburg that night, West Chester still had to win one game of the match Saturday against Millersville.

Leading the team against Cheyney in the kills category were Kelly Wrobel with nine and Betha Cureton with eight. Lisa Yeasted posted 27 assists and Vivanco notched 14 digs.

Thursday night brought with it another sweep for the Rams as they rolled over Philadelphia University in three straight games.

Kristen Decker posted another fantastic game, scoring 18 kills and 22 digs. Others contributing to the effort included Michelle Powers with 12 kills, Focht with 11 kills, Vivanco with 24 digs and Lisa Yeasted with 35 assists.

Saturday morning brought with it possibly the most important match of the season, as West Chester took on the Millersville Marauders, the only other contender for the last playoff spot. The girls rose to the occasion however, taking three of the four games needed to clinch a playoff berth in the PSAC.

The first game was a tough one, as West Chester barely squeaked by 31-29. They took the next game easily, but fell in the third, forcing a fourth game. The Lady Rams gained a second wind though, and easily ended the match.

Decker once again led the girls with 25 kills. Other contributers were Karly Lotkowski with 13 kills, Powers with nine and Focht with eight. Ashley Zech recorded 17 digs and Vivanco had 19.

The festivities continued later that afternoon as the Rams took on the University of District of Columbia in their final game of the season. They went out on a good note as they recorded yet another sweep of the competition, bringing their final tally to 28-9 on the season and tying West Chester's all time record for wins in the regular season.

In her last collegiate volleyball game, Decker recorded 19 kills, to put an end to her outstanding career here at West Chester. The day was dedicated to honoring the two seniors on the team, Decker and Zech, as well as Vivanco, who broke the all-time record for digs.

It was a fitting end to the Lady Rams record-breaking season.

WCU now has a weeklong break before post-season play begins next Saturday. The Lady Rams hope to carry their winning ways into the playoffs and come out with a PSAC championship.
