A former West Chester University student was sentenced on Nov. 5 after participating in two separate drug deals on the campus earlier in the year. According to a police report, Jordan Mohl, 20, of Lebanon, Pa. pled guilty to two separate PWID (Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance) charges in June.
Mohl had been arrested earlier in the year for selling prescription pills and two grams of marijuana, on separate occasions, to undercover police officers. According to the Ram's Eye View, state laws forbid the possession, use, sale or distribution of controlled drugs.
According to his attorney, William Honig of Norristown, Pa. Mohl was described as a top scholar and athlete in high school as well as a member of the school's National Honor Society. Honig also stated that Mohl has taken it upon himself to enter an intense rehabilitation program and is making progress to kick his addictions.
Assistant District Attorney Donna Murphy had recommended a three to 23 month jail term for Mohl along with probation since he did sell illegal substances to two undercover officers in a short period of time.
The court report said that Murphy also characterized Mohl's attempt to cooperate with investigators as "half-hearted", although Judge Sarcione noted that most defendants wouldn't have even made a token effort to cooperate, much less seek treatment.
Sarcione took into consideration that Mohl had no prior criminal record, a supportive family and a substantial educational background and has progressed in rehab, in deciding his sanctions. It was decided that Mohl would have fines over $800, five years of probation and 60 hours of community service.
Court reports stated that Judge Sarcione has also ordered Mohl to continue his treatment program, and to take random urinalysis for the first two years of court supervision.
John Blystone, 20, of Wallingford, Delware County was paroled from the Chester County Prison, a week before Mohl's sentencing, after serving a 6-to-23 month sentence for his role in the January drug deal alongside Mohl.
Police reported that Blystone, who was sentenced in May, had admitted to the court the day of his sentencing that he had smoked marijuana days prior to his court appearance.

It's unbeleivable that our tax dollars go to holding a person in jail for six months over the sale of 5 perscription pills. That's a heinous waste.
