Holiday shopping made easier with must-have gifts

Issue date: 12/3/07 Section: Features
It is the happiest time of the year, but for a lot of people it can also be the most stressful. For the avid shopper, the holiday season brings days full of shopping malls and spending money, but not everyone loves shopping. With everyone on the gift list wanting different things, it is hard to actually pinpoint what to get everyone. This year's holiday wish list is bigger than ever before, and there are plenty ideas for everyone.

Two holiday favorites that have yet to go anywhere since last year are the Apple iPod and the GPS systems. Msnshopping.com has the both on its "hot gifts for the holiday's list." The iPod has introduced its new nano, which lets you view television shows, movies, video podcasts, along with music. The new nano comes in an array of colors and offers a great picture, costing around $134.

GPS systems are on the list again for everyone. Most stores carry a wide range of varieties of the GPS systems, offering portable systems, and pocket sized systems, each coming equipped with U.S. maps to get you wherever you are traveling to. Each system costs a different price according to which one you choose.

There are plenty of options for the electronic lovers on your list. According to msnshopping.com, Plasma and LCD flat screen televisions are the hottest gifts in the electronics departments. Although a lot of stores are having electronic sales, expect this gift to be one of your most pricey, costing up to more than $1,000, depending on how many inches your screen is.

"I really want a LCD flat screen TV for Christmas this year," finance major Matthew Heigh said.

Games are also a great gift for the video game lover. This year "Halo 3," "Guitar Hero III," "Legends of Rock," "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" and "Resident Evil 4" are just a few among the most popular games on the wish list this holiday season, according to msnshopping.com.

Xbox, Wii and Playstation 3 (PS3) are great gifts as well. Each system can range anywhere from $300 to $500, but the video game player on your list will love each console, and each comes with a controller. The Nintendo Wii especially comes with a connection to the internet to play all of their favorite games online.
