Celebs help with voter drive on campus

A Pennsylvania voter drive brought actors Rachael Leigh Cook and Mehcad Brooks to WCU, last Monday, as the final week of voter registration in Pennsylvania ends today. The Obama-Biden sponsored event, "Eight Days for '08," visited four Greater Philadelphia-area universities throughout the day last Monday.

Palin and Biden face off in St. Louis

More than 70 million people tuned in Thursday night to watch Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Joe Biden face off in the 2008 Vice Presidential debate-- nearly 20 million more than the first Presidential debate Sept. 26. Biden was declared the winner according to 46 percent of 473 uncommitted voters in a CBS and Knowledge Networks survey.

Springsteen rocks the Parkway

PHILADELPHIA-Bruce Springsteen played the first of several acoustic sets as part of Rock The Vote 2008, Saturday at the Ben Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia in an effort to increase voter registration across the country. Over 35,000 Springsteen fans and Barack Obama supporters lined the Parkway between 20th and 24th street of Philadelphia for the free event.

Israel poised to have second female prime minister in its history

JERUSALEM- Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni took a major step early Thursday toward becoming the nation's second female prime minister after closer-than-expected results showed her narrowly winning election to lead the government's ruling party. As Kadima Party leaders counted the official votes, Livni, a popular, diplomacy-first advocate, predicted a narrow victory over Shaul Mofaz, a more politically uncompromising former defense minister.
